Overview
We are recruiting for Graduates in our Building Services teams. You will be working on exciting and innovative projects such as large office buildings, hospitals, hotels, residential complexes, data centres and education buildings. The Building Services Engineer role involves designing, developing, and maintaining the essential systems and services that ensure the functionality, safety, and comfort of buildings, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical systems, and public health services. You will be embedded in multidisciplinary teams and mentored by experienced engineers, gaining exposure to real-world challenges and innovative solutions.
Locations
Building Services: London, Basingstoke, Brighton, Cambridge, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Leeds and Edinburgh. Smart Buildings: London. Public Health: London.
Responsibilities
* Collaborating with external stakeholders.
* Conducting site inspections and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
* Drafting Mechanical or Electrical layouts, using Revit or AutoCAD and running calculations.
* Reviewing technical drawings and coordinating with other disciplines.
* Supporting Senior Engineers in preparing tender documents.
* Attending site visits to observe installations or conduct surveys.
* Participating in sustainability assessments (e.g. BREEM).
Day-to-day – Building Technology Systems (Smart Buildings)
* Collaborating with specialists in MEP, Security, Lighting, ICT, AV to develop holistic Smart Buildings solutions.
* Gathering requirements from stakeholders and understanding client problems and desired outcomes.
* Designing and specifying implementation of technologies and documenting requirements for approval.
* Working with project stakeholders to develop client-centered recommendations.
* Presenting work outputs to clients during project delivery and change management.
Day-to-day – Energy & Sustainability
* Developing building simulation models to assess energy use and occupant comfort.
* Assessing design strategies to reduce energy consumption and coordinating with the design team.
* Calculating Whole Life Carbon impacts and identifying reduction opportunities.
* Incorporating Circular Economy principles in building design.
* Reviewing planning and regulatory requirements for energy use and carbon emissions.
* Assessing climate-change risks to building performance.
Graduate Development Programme
Our two-year programme supports personal and professional development with blended learning, core business and professional skills training, mentoring for professional registration, and on-the-job experience. You will be supported to pursue chartered status with professional bodies where applicable.
