ALS are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Analyst (Grade 1) to join our dynamic laboratory team. This is a key position within our analytical operations, ensuring that all samples are processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with our Quality Management System (QMS). Acting as a role model for excellence, you’ll provide day-to-day supervision and technical support to analysts, ensuring smooth workflow and maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and service delivery. Hours Per Week: 37 Days Per Week: Monday - Friday (14:00 - 22:00) Contract: Full Time and Permanent Annual Salary: £27,636 per annum Hiring Manager: Chaya Parekh Closing Date: Wednesday 19th November 2025 The day to day Ensure all samples are completed to the required quantities, quality standards and deadlines. Supervise and support analysts in the absence of the Team Leader, providing guidance, training and day-to-day oversight. Assist the Team Leader in planning and organising daily workloads and running team meetings. Manage resources effectively to meet service delivery targets and company KPIs. I nterpret, validate and report analytical data with accuracy and clarity. Train team members to the required standard and assess ongoing competency. Work collaboratively to ensure efficient sample flow through the laboratory. Investigate non-conforming work and contribute to process improvement initiatives. Respond to customer queries and complaints professionally and promptly. Proactively uphold Health & Safety standards, reporting any incidents or near-misses and promoting a safe working environment. The essentials To be successful in this role, you’ll need: A minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant scientific subject. Significant laboratory experience with an in-depth knowledge of environmental testing. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent organisational abilities with the capacity to prioritise your own work and support others. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records. Clear and effective communication skills – both written and verbal. Good IT proficiency and familiarity with laboratory software systems. A thorough understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS). The ability to critically evaluate data and draw sound conclusions.
