Job Overview
The Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Department, incorporating Medical Electronics and Medical Engineering, sits within the Estates Directorate. We are seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to work as a Senior Medical Engineer.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will provide high-quality preventative maintenance, repair, calibration, safety and acceptance testing service on a broad range of complex and patient‑critical medical equipment. They will also provide technical advice and training on both general and highly specialised equipment to ensure safe and efficient use by others, and liaise with clinical staff, suppliers, manufacturers, and procurement staff over the selection and maintenance of medical equipment.
My responsibilities will include
Administrative and technical support to department and end‑user staff; communicating effectively with clinical staff, suppliers, manufacturers, contracts and procurement staff regarding maintenance of medical equipment; acting as a first‑point contact for advice; proactively improving service delivery; providing outstanding customer service with a can‑do approach; demonstrating good communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels.

Person Specification – Qualifications and Training (Essential Criteria)
* BSc/BEng in an appropriate Electronics Engineering subject, or NVQ5‑level equivalent knowledge and experience in Electronics Engineering
* Evidence of post‑qualification medical equipment maintenance experience in a relevant healthcare environment
* Training to repair, preventative maintenance, safety testing & acceptance testing
* Broad knowledge of medical device operation & management
Desirable Criteria
* Member of an appropriate professional organisation
* Possesses an up‑to‑date professional portfolio
* Registered as a Clinical Technologist
* Specialist equipment training on complex multi‑parameter medical equipment
* Specialised knowledge of medical applications of engineering
