Job purpose/summary:

· Ownership of month end processes for commercial and operations finance, ensuring month end journals, reporting and analysis are carried out on time and to the required standard.



· Leading the financial planning and analysis (annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and short terms forecast) and acting as a business partner for the Warehouse and Transport teams.



· Supporting the wider Commercial & Operations finance team in all project, process improvement and ad hoc work.


Month End Key Performance Objectives (KPO’s):

Supply Chain:

· Run Inventory reports (Volume and Value) and post any stock movement journals as required.



· Post PPV (product price variance) journals and prepare MPV reports for the month end business reviews, in line with the month end timetable.



· Post all necessary Warehouse and Inbound and Outbound transport month end journals and check these reflect correctly in the management accounts. In line with the month end timetable.



· Undertake variance analysis of Warehouse and Transport spend so that we understand any over/under spend vs budget and that we support and challenge the business in taking any necessary corrective actions.



· Support the finance manager in preparing the presentation (and understanding of key issues) for the monthly Supply Chain business review.



Sales & Marketing:

· Run the Flash sales process on the morning of working day 1 of month end.



· Run the process for the SOA accruals (cost of funding promotions), by tracking the current promotions that are running and sales volumes against these in order that we correctly reflect the costs in our P&L ahead of trade partner claims.



· Post trade partner investment (TPI) month end journals including SOA (above) and customers terms (Rebates, Display costs etc).



· Following the close of month end, run the sales and margin actualization process.



· Update Sales & Margin slides for the PRM presentation deck.





Consumer Experience / Aftersales:

· Preparation and review of the month end journals for Consumer Experience ensuring they are posted correctly and in line with out month end timetable.



· Preparation and review of the spares stock adjustment file.



Other Key Performance Objectives (KPO’s):

Financial Planning (FP&A):



· Support the Commercial & Operations finance team in the production of the annual budget with a particular focus on Transport and Warehouse, ensuring appropriate forecasting models are used.



· Support the Commercial & Operations finance team in the production of the quarterly forecast with a particular focus on Transport and Warehouse, ensuring appropriate forecasting models are used.



· Be responsible for the monthly “short term forecast” (STF) for Warehouse and Transport costs. Ensuring (by building a close relationship with the transport and warehouse teams) that you have a good knowledge of the operational activity which may drive variances to our budget / quarterly forecast.



Business Partnering:

· Be the finance point of contact for the Transport and Warehouse operational teams, supporting them in a business partnering capacity in order to drive greater efficiency and cost control.



· Work closely with the sales team to ensure they adhere processes around raising promotions in our finance template in order for us to track costs accurately.



· Once customer terms agreements have been analysed and signed, work with the sales teams and the Commercial & FP&A accountant to ensure we are appropriately tracking costs.



Others:

· Responsibility for monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations for Inventory, Supply Chain & Trade Partner Investment (TPI). Ensuring we have a control of any risks / opportunities on the balance sheet.



· Be willing and able to support the wider Commercial & Operations Finance team as and when ad hoc tasks and projects come up (eg, process & system improvements) – this is a great development opportunity to broaden your experience across different areas of finance and the business.



· Complete other smaller more administrative tasks such as issue the daily CX sales report, roll forward of monthly reporting files, submitting reports to the National Office for Statistics and carrying out payment checks.



Must have / Must be:

Numerate and analytical:

· High levels of quality and accuracy in all aspects of work, with attention to detail.

· Good IT skills (good experience of using Excel) and ERP literate.

Good communicator and interpersonal skills:

· Ability to present complex information concisely.

· Ability to build cross functional (non-finance) relationships.

· Be a team player and values driven.

Strong character:

· Highly motivated, commercially minded individual with can do attitude.

· High level of autonomy, working proactively & independently.

· Capable of working at pace and under pressure and able to manage and prioritise deadlines.

· Continuous improvement mindset - inquisitive and always looking to improve ways of working.

Driving License is essential


Preferred:

· Previous experience in a Finance through (Eg, a placement year).

Experience of working in an FMCG background would be advantageous


Technical/professional qualifications:

· Degree educated (min 2:1 achieved or forecast if results pending) in a relevant financial discipline

Ambition to study ACA/ACCA/CIMA
