Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic team-player who would like to increase their knowledge and skills around in their chosen subspecialty area of trauma and orthopaedic surgery. To get maximum benefit, they should already be competent at routine hand, hip or knee surgery as dictated by the role. They must have current ATLS and should have FRCS (Tr and Orth). Post holders with CCT may be given some independent operating lists.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is a clinical and research fellowship in orthopaedic Trauma Surgery for 12 months.
Our Senior Fellow Posts are all full-time posts at 40 hours per week; this includes time each week for research and quality improvement projects as well as traditional teaching. Allocated research time may be increased to meet the needs of our fellows should they undertake more extensive projects in discussion with the fellowship supervisors. The post holder will have limited on-call duties at the Level 1 MTC at RSCH and will therefore be expected to be up to date with the management of complex trauma. Possession of FRCS (T&O) and ATLS is a requirement for the post.

Experience and Qualifications
* Basic Medical Degree
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
* Valid Advance Trauma Life Support Certificate (ATLS)
* Higher Degree (MD, PhD)
Clinical Skills and Experience
* Completion of FRCS(Orth) or equivalent by time of commencement of post
* Certificate of completion of Training (CCT)
* Demonstrate interest in trauma surgery
Organisation and Planning
* Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
* Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
* Evidence of managerial skills: Achievements / Course attended
Teaching Skills
* Evidence of an interest and commitment to teaching
* Recognised teaching qualification
