Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - ASD Team
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Children's Therapy Service as a Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist within our Autism Assessment Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), supporting children and young people with social communication differences and complex needs as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.
As a Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, you will support the ASD Clinical Lead in service delivery and provide highly specialist assessments for children and young people aged 0-18 years across BNSSG.
Working within the Autism Assessment Team, you will use your specialist clinical skills to assess children and young people presenting with complex social communication needs across clinic, education and home settings. You will play a key role in multidisciplinary diagnostic assessments and contribute to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care for families across the region.
This is a permanent part-time position working 22.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
To provide highly specialist assessment of children and young people as part of the Autism Assessment team.
To undertake ADOS assessments for children and young people up to the age of 18 years (early years and school age) - (Not essential)
To carry out social communication observations and assessments in a clinic, educational settings or home setting
To carry out assessment of children with highly complex social communication presentations as part of a multi professional team providing highly specialist clinical advice, interpretation and differential diagnosis
To write detailed contributions to diagnostic multidisciplinary reports
To take the lead where appropriate in feeding back assessment and diagnostic results to parents and young people
To support other Speech and Language therapists and other professionals including Specialist Nurses, Paediatric Registrars, Early Years Practitioners and Psychology Assistants working as part of the ASD assessment team
To line manage one or more Speech and Language Therapists including managing leave, conducting appraisals, providing regular one to one supervision and supporting adherence to mandatory training.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* Degree level qualification recognised by Professional Governing Body (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists/Chartered Society of Physiotherapists/ Royal College of Occupational Therapists)
* Evidence of Master Level post qualification accredited training and participation in ongoing regular CPD in area of clinical specialism (e.g. Bobath training, Post-grad accredited Dysphagia training).
* Active Membership of recognised Governing Body
* Licence to practise - evidenced by HPC registration
* Previous experience in Clinical Specialist role
Experience
* Experience of working in a multi-professional team
* Experience in line management or supervision
* Experience as a Children's Therapist with significant experience of working in a community setting
