We are seeking an organised, proactive, and collaborative domain expert in social sciences to be appointed as the Data Acquisitions Team Manager, who will play a key role in delivering the UK Data Archive’s data collections development strategy.
The UK Data Archive is the lead organisation of the, a national data infrastructure funded by the ESRC through the UKRI to acquire, preserve, and disseminate social sciences data, and to provide support, guidance and training for the development of skills in data management, curation, and use.
You will lead the day-to-day operations of the Archive’s data acquisitions pipeline, manage a small team and ensure that new and existing data collections are acquired efficiently, securely, and in line with our policies and accreditation standards. Working closely with colleagues across the UK Data Service, you will oversee procedures, monitor progress, and drive continuous improvement through data-informed insight and feedback.
You will support data producers through guidance and training, conduct horizon scanning and outreach to expand the collection, and contribute to continuous improvement by analysing performance data and feedback. The role also involves representing the team in projects and meetings, promoting high standards in data quality, integrity, and service delivery.
You will be an organised and proactive team leader with excellent organisation, coordination and communication skills. Experienced in managing people and workflows, you will bring a good understanding of research data management, information governance, and compliance. You will be confident in maintaining procedures, analysing performance data, and engaging with data producers and partners.
An eye for detail, a problem-solving mindset, and a commitment to continuous improvement will be key to your success in this role.
