The Opportunity
As a Commercial Gas Engineer, reporting to the Service Manager for UK & Ireland, you will provide technical support to our customers post-installation, assisting with troubleshooting and repairs throughout the equipment's lifecycle. The role is based anywhere in England, preferably in and around the Midlands, covering South, Central, and South West regions, with occasional international travel.
On a typical day, you may:
1. Work independently to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues, explaining solutions to customers verbally and in writing.
2. Perform service calls involving adjustments, part replacements, and synchronization of mechanisms, which may involve electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, or gas systems.
3. Submit detailed service and inspection reports following each call.
4. Coordinate with Project Managers regarding service orders and communicate any issues to customers and management promptly.
5. Recommend improvements, modifications, and maintenance practices for equipment.
6. Train customer technical staff on operation, sanitation, and maintenance best practices.
7. Promote JBT services, service agreements, and OEM parts to support equipment operation and generate sales.
Requirements for the Role
* Gas certification is essential: COCN1, CIGA1, and CDGA1; or CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, MET1, CPA1 for those from a domestic background.
* HND qualification or equivalent apprenticeship in a technical discipline.
* Combination of light electrical skills and strong mechanical skills.
* Experience with factory production equipment and PLC systems is beneficial.
* Desirable: experience with forced draft package burners, specifically Weishaupt and Riello models.
Travel & Location
This role is fully remote, with approximately 80-85% travel required.
