The post holder will play an important role in this dynamic team. The successful candidate will be hardworking, motivated team player, including flexibility to respond rapidly, working under the direction of senior nurses within the team. You will need to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service. and be able to work effectively with partnership departments and Surgeons across a 7 day working week 24 hours a day. Surgical experience not essential as training will be given.

Responsibilities

* To be actively involved in the continuing development of the unit and maintain an environment conducive to high standards of patient care by promoting good communication and relationships between staff, patients, relatives and visitors.
* Ward 11 is a ward dedicated to patients undergoing complex surgery (general, colorectal, breast, ENT). It is a well run and organized ward.
Qualifications and Role Details
* Band 2 CSW role to support registered nursing staff and other health care professionals in the delivery of nursing care to patients at a level determined by training, competence and experience.
* Assist in the maintenance of the care environment and perform housekeeping, clerical, ancillary and portering roles as requested.
* Postholder should only undertake duties for which training has been received and where competency-based assessment has been completed; to make nurses and others aware of any limitations to competence.
Non-Clinical Responsibilities
* Perform general clerical activities to support the area (answering the telephone, taking and passing on messages, filing, keeping patient records tidy etc.).
* Support registered nursing staff in relation to non-clinical duties as required.
* Other duties as reasonably required consistent with the responsibilities of their banding and development as agreed with the manager.

* Confidentiality and Data Protection: comply with GDPR and related policy requirements.
* Health and Safety: adhere to Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and related Trust policies, with mandatory training and risk management responsibilities.
* Clinical Governance, Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, Equality and Diversity, Patient Experience and Public Involvement, Infection Control, and Smoking policies are to be followed as part of the role.
There is a general responsibility for employees to act sensibly and reasonably, and attend mandatory health and safety training sessions.
