Operative with LGV
Contract: Essex Highways
Location: Halstead, CO9 2HG
Contract Type: Permanent
We are looking for a dedicated and reliable individual to join our highways maintenance team, reporting directly to the Ganger/Supervisor.
In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering a high-quality service to our customers by carrying out essential maintenance work on the highway network. Your contribution will help ensure that all activities align with the strategies and standards set by the County Council and Essex Highways.
Strong customer service skills are essential, as we are committed to maintaining excellence within our team. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to handle all interactions professionally and courteously, ensuring the public is well-informed about the services and standards provided by the Council.
The Role
1. Pothole repair and carriageway defect reinstatement
2. Carriageway and footway patching and construction
3. Drainage works, including pipe installation, ironwork resetting, and gully/access chamber construction
4. Kerbing installation and maintenance
5. Installation of road signs and other minor civil works
About You
6. A current, valid driving licence is essential; LGV Class 2 entitlement is highly desirable
7. New Roads and Streetworks or NHSS 12 training and qualifications are highly beneficial
8. Experience using handheld technology (PDAs, smartphones, etc.) is advantageous but not essential
9. Local knowledge of the county and highways maintenance is beneficial
10. A good understanding of health and safety and its application in the workplace
