The role
Assisting with all Legal compliance matters, in particular for GDPR and Company Secretarial matters, and other legal matters as may be required from time to time; providing legal advice and support to a variety of internal stakeholders in respect of GDPR and Legal Compliance.
* Pro-actively oversee all legal aspects of GDPR matters, working with the Data Protection Office (DPO) of the business to develop and implement the GDPR compliance program in this consumer-facing business
* Identify opportunities to better manage GDPR and other Legal Compliance risk and increase knowledge/awareness of GDPR and Legal Compliance within the business
* Attend internal and external meetings, playing a leading role in GDPR and as the subject matter expert and point of reference for expert opinion in relation to GDPR and other compliance matters
* Responsible for ensuring Company Secretariat records, including filings at Companies House and the Company Registers (including members, directors etc), are up to date and accurate; and assisting the General Counsel with Company Secretariat and Investor matters, as may be required from time to time
* Assisting with other Legal Compliance matters as may be required from time to time, including updating legal aspects of the legislation register and maintaining a calendar of Legal Compliance registration and filing dates
* Provide advice and assistance in the formulation and drafting of policies and procedures in response to the changing legislative and regulatory frameworks for a charge point operator, retail and solar farm owner and operating business
* Develop networks and take a leading role in managing the internal relationships with the Operational, IT, Commercial and Finance teams in respect of GDPR, Company Secretarial and other compliance matters
* Provide expert legal advice and guidance on other compliance and legal matters across the business as may be required from time to time, for example reviewing and agreeing NDAs and other contracts
* Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including; anti-bribery policy and environmental and quality management standards in compliance with ISO standards
You'll bring
* Trained in a top tier legal firm with specific GDPR experience in a consumer-facing environment (in-house or private practice) essential
* In-house Legal Compliance experience
* Company Secretarial experience is desirable but not essential
* A comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of GDPR issues and experience in implementing a GDPR compliance program within a consumer-facing business
* Implementation of processes, tracking and reporting of compliance matters within a business
* Ability to quickly build working relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure delivery of property matters to required timetable and budget
* Commercial approach to problem solving, risk and solutions to issues
* An understanding of the wider compliance issues affecting the EV-charging market
* A passion to work as part of a high performing team, sharing knowledge, best practice and supporting colleagues
* Comfortable working independently and leading matters
* Proactive and pragmatic approach to giving legal advice and support in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders and the wider business
* Able to articulate legal principles and concepts clearly and concisely both in writing and orally;
* Confident and resilient in their approach to their work, legal skills and knowledge
Required Qualifications and Certifications
* Qualified lawyer in England & Wales with a minimum of 3-4 years PQE, with in-house compliance experience
