Groundworks / Civils Estimator Location: Pontefract Salary: £70,000 - £85,000 Package Start: ASAP Role Summary We are seeking an experienced Groundworks / Civils Estimator to join a well-established contractor delivering a range of infrastructure and groundwork projects across the Yorkshire region. This role will focus on pricing and securing projects across residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors, working closely with pre-construction and delivery teams. Company Overview The business is a reputable civils and groundworks contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work and long-standing relationships with main contractors and developers. They operate across multiple sectors including housing developments, roads & infrastructure, drainage, and commercial groundwork packages. Key Responsibilities Prepare accurate cost estimates for groundworks and civil engineering projects Interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documents Complete take-offs and BOQs for tender submissions Price materials, labour, plant, and subcontract packages Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings Identify value engineering opportunities and risk factors Work closely with commercial and operational teams to ensure smooth project handover Maintain a strong understanding of market rates and industry trends Requirements Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar groundworks or civils estimating role Strong knowledge of drainage, foundations, roads, and infrastructure packages Experience pricing residential and/or commercial developments Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail Confident communicator with client-facing capability Skills & Attributes Strong analytical and numerical skills Excellent organisation and time management Ability to work under pressure to meet tender deadlines Proficient with estimating software and Excel Team player with a proactive approach Package & Benefits £70,000 - £85,000 basic salary Company car or car allowance Pension scheme Bonus potential Ongoing career progression within a growing business Location & Travel Based in Pontefract Office-based with occasional site visits as required
