About the Role
Playing a significant role in ensuring the safety and security of your Centre, as well as in the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders, you will:
* Handle a Case Management portfolio of offenders assigned to you, providing first-line and quality support in addressing their offending behaviour
* Actively support and work collaboratively with the Centre's multidisciplinary team including Clinicians, Health and Mental Health staff, and Alliance Partners
* Conduct daily head counts and search for contraband
* Escort offenders to various appointments, including hospital visits and court appearances
* Manage the visitors area of the prison and oversee offenders' visitation sessions
* Conduct perimeter searches of the prison and control access of people in and out of the facility
Most shifts worked are 12 hours, providing an excellent work-life balance. Our facility operates 24/7, so you will be required to work a mix of day, night, public holiday, and weekend shifts once your training is completed.

Mandatory Requirements
To be eligible, you must:
* Be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen with a valid passport, or a Permanent Resident of Australia
* Hold a current, unrestricted Driver's Licence for the relevant State
* Be able to obtain a satisfactory national security clearance
* Male candidates must be prepared to be clean-shaven to meet the position requirements
About the Training
GEO, as a Registered Training Provider (number 3570), offers nationally accredited training programs. All new Correctional Officers complete a full-time paid 8-week training course and work toward a Certificate III in Correctional Practice (CSC30122).
The 8-week pre-service course begins on Monday, 12 January 2026, and graduates on Friday, 6 March 2026. Successful applicants will receive at least 4 weeks’ notice before the course starts. Attendance for the entire course is mandatory, including some weekend work due to training requirements.
Remuneration
The starting rate for Trainee Correctional Officers is $33.86 per hour during training. Upon course completion, the casual rate increases to $47.03 per hour. Full-time employment offers a base salary of approximately $82,174 annually, with opportunities to increase earnings through additional shifts or overtime, in line with the Enterprise Agreement.
