Overview
We are seeking dynamic and enthusiastic Bank Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to join our Anaesthetic team in the Main Theatres at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The role offers a supportive, exciting, and challenging environment with access to a cutting‑edge operative suite.
The Main Theatre Suite comprises nine theatres and one recovery unit, including a dedicated obstetric theatre and two modern, integrated laparoscopic theatres. In addition, the team provides anaesthetic assistance in other areas such as CT, MRI, Accident & Emergency, supports level‑3 transfers, and serves as part of the hospital resuscitation team.
Responsibilities
* Participate in a rota system providing 24‑hour care, including weekends and public holidays.
* Provide clinical anaesthetic support within the team, collaborating to plan, monitor and evaluate patient care throughout the peri‑operative period.
* Deliver a high‑quality, patient‑safe service, applying evidence‑based practices and acting as a role model for specialist theatre knowledge.
* Support the implementation of the new electronic patient record system and digital transformation initiatives.
Qualifications
* Registered ODP or registered Nurse with an approved UK anaesthetic qualification, or a student ODP nearing qualification.
* Experience in operating theatre or a similar high‑acuity setting is desirable.
* Enhanced DBS check (or eligibility for one) and commitment to safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
* Strong clinical judgement, effective communication skills, and a willingness to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
