Trainee Accounts Assistant
Location: Edinburgh BMW
Hours: Full-Time
We are looking for an trainee Accounts Assistant to join our team. The main purpose of the role is to assist the dealership accountant with the preparation and analysis of key financial information for a number of motor dealerships in our group.
Key Responsibilities include:
Perform a weekly credit control review and where necessary, communicate any issues with the Accountant and relevant Manager
Process of supplier invoices, sending to management for authorisation
Monitor Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger accounts for posting errors, unallocated posting and any other issues
Ensure stationery is fully stocked with essential items and process order to replenish when necessary, ensure proper authorisation is given for unessential items
Work with the team to ensure all aspects of the accounts functions are covered
Securing the Long-Term Efficacy of the Site:
Ensure the efficient administration of clerical and reporting procedures throughout the department
Ensure that accounts administrative systems and methods are efficient and adhere to Company as well as manufacturer guidelines
Consistently make sure all month-end, quarterly and yearly deadlines are met
Have an awareness of legislation surrounding the Accounts Administrator role
Perform consistently, even under pressure
Customer Focus:
Work with colleagues to provide excellent customer service by exceeding their expectations
Provide a consistent level of service to both internal and external customers and representatives of the retailer and manufacturer
Ensure good customer contact and maintain an adequate flow of information to all staff
Analytical Skills:
Be able to assimilate and interpret data into meaningful financial information
Can work independently
Will work in a meticulous and methodical manner
Flexible approach to work, willing to play a full role in ensuring the success of the whole team
Performs any other duties not in the job description, commensurate with the role, as and when requested by a Manager

As this role will involve day to day interaction with both site and Group Management, you should have strong communication and interpersonal skills and a positive and proactive attitude to managing a high volume of work and conflicting priorities calmly and effectively.
Excellent IT skills including proficiency in all MS Office applications particularly MS Excel is also essential. Knowledge of Keyloop Autoline and a background in the motor trade, though not essential, would be a distinct advantage.
