Ascent Recruitment is pleased to support a successful Insurance business in Manchester searching for a Senior Accountant.
The Role
As a Senior Accountant your role is to assist in the preparation and reporting of high-quality financial information, including undertaking and being accountable for various key financial processes.
Additionally, you will support and drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, in addition to enhancing the control environment
Key Responsibilities
* Support month-end and quarter-end close in line with policies and timetables.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
* Ownership of key month-end and quarter-end deliverables (depending on team), including:
* Balance sheet oversight, ensuring control and understanding of key balances
* Investment reporting and cash management oversight
* Tax balance management, including corporation tax estimates and VAT/IPT returns
* Cross-functional input into IBNR reserves and reinsurance recoveries/treaty costs
* Solvency II reporting
* Annual statutory accounts
* Produce insightful financial analysis (including expense analysis) and support planning/forecasting.
* Provide financial support and respond to ad-hoc stakeholder requests.
* Represent Finance on current and future business projects.
* Ensure robust, compliant accounting processes and accurate P&L and balance sheet reporting.
* Commit to ongoing personal development to meet current and future business needs.
Skills & Experience Required
* Self-motivated.
* Strong analytical and investigative skills
* Identification and drive of continuous improvement activities.
* Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
* Excellent MS Excel knowledge (VLOOKUP, Pivot tables etc).
* Solvency II experience preferred, or closely related regulatory reporting experience
* Strong focus on process improvement and continuous enhancement of reporting procedures
* Experience of working within the Insurance and/or Engineering industry – desirable, not essential
Salary and Key Benefits
* £60,000-£65,000
* 10% Bonus
* Hybrid Working
