Must-have Attributes of Successful Candidates
You have an opportunity to make a difference in vetcare. Therefore, an entrepreneurial nature is a must-have. In practical terms this means:
* Being a self-starter (takes responsibility, gets things done)
* Willing to do things differently and not “how they have always been done”
* Comfortable with change, as we optimize our clinical model frequently
* Comfort with ambiguity
* The desire to help improve the clinic’s operational performance
* Constructively recognizing, escalating and helping solve clinical problems
* Not a behind-the-scenes complainer. Not “gossipy”
* Keenness to grow the clinic by developing neighbourhood relationships
* Strong interest in marketing activities

* Patient assessment & monitoring
* Anaesthesia & sedation
* Intravenous skills
* Medication administration
* Diagnostic procedures

* Training – demonstrating and supervising key procedures for less experienced staff
* Delegation – allocating daily nursing tasks under direction of Head Nurse or Lead Vet
* Client support – post-op discharge advice, inpatient updates, basic owner education (nutrition, medication administration)
* Record keeping – ensuring accurate patient notes and legal compliance (NMC-style for veterinary context)
* Stock checks – assisting in ordering/rotation of consumables and pharmacy stock
* Practice standards compliance – supporting audits, maintaining RCVS standards in day-to-day nursing care
People and Protocols
Candidates should have a passion for educating customers about treatment options and preventative care. You must know when working up a case is in the best interest of the patient and when it is over-servicing. You must be keen to use structured clinical protocols.
