Clinical Safety Officer
The Clinical Safety Officer will provide expert clinical advice and specialist support to the UHB on issues related to clinical risk management and patient safety assessment associated with the UHB’s Digital, Data, and Technology services. This includes involvement in procurement, design, development, implementation of third-party systems, and the operational lifecycle.
The post holder will support the development, integration, and embedding of the UHB’s clinical assurance process, focusing on patient safety assessment during the design, development, and testing phases before systems are operationally deployed.
Proactive engagement with UHB and external clinical, technical, and project staff will be essential to promote commitment to risk management and assessment processes, ensuring that digital products are safe for use in clinical environments.
The role also involves supporting the ongoing development and integration of the clinical assurance process throughout the operational phase of the lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide assurance to the UHB regarding patient safety related to clinical assurance activities within CTMUHB concerning digital, data, and technology services.
* Interpret statutory legislation and guidance to develop and monitor risk management policies, procedures, protocols, and safe systems of work.
* Promote a risk-aware culture within the organization, making risk management an integral part of the UHB’s operations related to digital, data, and technology services.
* Develop and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders such as Digital Health Care Wales (DHCW) and the Welsh Risk Pool, acting as a focal point of contact.
* Lead the CTMUHB’s Clinical Assurance Process across the entire program, from scoping and design to testing, early adoption, and decommissioning of digital health products.
This is a fixed-term/secondment position until 31 October 2026. Applicants must obtain permission from their current line manager prior to applying.
