Our working arrangements

All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field, or flexible work style. Some roles are agile, enabling employees to maximize performance and productivity while maintaining work-life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are typically out in the community with minimal 'touch down' space at council locations. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location, allowing work from home or other locations as required.

Please refer to the Job Description for further information on the workstyle assigned to the role you are applying for.

Diversity

We are committed to building a workforce that reflects the diverse community we serve. We aim to attract applications from people of all backgrounds and underrepresented groups, believing in the value of diversity, inclusion, and equality. Our employees help us deliver accessible, inclusive services that reflect Wolverhampton residents.

Our status as a Disability Confident Employer demonstrates our commitment to supporting people with disabilities or health conditions. We have received the Stonewall Gold Award for our dedication to the LGBT+ community and foster an inclusive, equal workplace.

As of March 2023, the RACE Code Quality Mark recognizes our engagement with racial equality. These awards validate our ongoing efforts to foster an inclusive environment where all employees are valued.

As part of our commitments, we offer a guaranteed interview for applicants meeting the essential criteria, as a Disability Confident employer, Armed Forces employer, and supporter of care leavers.

We promote an inclusive culture where employees can flourish and be themselves. We have four staff equality forums to ensure employees' voices are heard and respected. Learn more about the forums here.

Recruitment of Ex-Offenders

We are committed to fair treatment of all potential employees, regardless of offending background. The Council uses the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for relevant vacancies to assess suitability. We do not discriminate unfairly against individuals based on convictions or DBS disclosures. Learn more here.
