We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Facilities Compliance Operative to join our Workplace Services team. This pivotal role supports the operational delivery of compliance checks and maintenance across a diverse and complex University estate.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct planned compliance inspections (e.g. Legionella, fire safety systems, emergency lighting).
Diagnose faults and recommend remedial actions using mobile compliance software.
Support health & safety practices and ensure legal and University standards are met.
Liaise with internal departments and external contractors to maintain high service standards.
Assist with operational tasks such as furniture moves, room setups, and recycling.
Mentor junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What We Are Looking For
Good general education (GCSE/NVQ Level 2) or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in facilities, porterage, or similar operational roles.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Basic D.I.Y. and IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to travel across multiple sites and occasionally work outside standard hours.
Commitment to health & safety, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
Working Environment
Highly varied conditions across indoor and outdoor settings.
Physically active role requiring lifting, carrying, and working in constrained spaces.
High sensory demand requiring attention to detail and precision.
