Are you detail-oriented, scientifically curious, and eager to work in an active lab environment that supports environmental sustainability and innovation?
We are looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic analytical team. You'll play a vital role in supporting testing procedures, managing samples, maintaining laboratory standards, and contributing to the accurate analysis and classification of materials in line with environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the analysis of wastewater, soil, and plant samples using a variety of methods (e.g. spectroscopy, colorimetry).
* Carry out pre-acceptance waste sample testing for all waste streams arriving on site.
* Perform classification testing to ensure all waste complies with Environmental Permit requirements.
* Support sample logging, preparation, labelling, and documentation.
* Maintain high lab cleanliness and uphold health & safety standards.
* Aid in the calibration, cleaning, and general maintenance of laboratory instruments (e.g. GCMS, ICP-OES).
* Process and organise internal samples for external testing.
* Help manage stock and consumables, placing orders when needed.
* Work with senior analysts to implement and refine lab procedures.
* May assist with field sample collection (e.g. soil, seed, water).
About You
* Basic laboratory experience or scientific background (chemistry/environmental science preferred).
* Comfortable with lab equipment and handling chemicals safely.
* Understanding of waste classification or willingness to learn regulatory requirements.
* Organised and precise, with good attention to detail and documentation.
* Willingness to learn advanced techniques and take on new challenges.
* Effective communicator and team player.
