Senior Healthcare Support Worker – Emergency Department

Job Summary
The Senior Healthcare Support Worker will assist the Registered Nurse in delivering safe, high‑quality clinical care to patients all times. The post holder works under direct and indirect supervision of the registered nurse and receives appropriate training for the clinical setting.
Additional duties identified in the job description are performed only after required training. Once trained, the post holder undertakes tasks within the scope of this job description.
Main Duties
* Assess patient condition through observations and test results, and initiate emergency procedures as appropriate.
* Assist patients with activities of daily living, including feeding, toileting and personal care.
* Practice safe moving and handling using proper equipment, such as glide sheets and hoists.
* Escort patients to other hospital departments following trust procedures, maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.
* Provide compassionate, patient‑centred care, recognising cultural beliefs and maintaining confidentiality.
* Clean clinical equipment before and after use.
* Record patient data including observations, test results, fluid balance and nutrition.

Contract and Salary
* Contract type: Permanent
* Working pattern: Full‑time
* Salary: £24,937 to £26,598 a year pro‑rata
* Band: Band 3 (Agenda for Change)
* Location: Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby (DN32 2BA)
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Knowledge of care procedures up to level 3.
* Care Certificate or willingness to obtain it.
* Recent experience in a healthcare environment.
* Previous caring experience.
Desirable
* Good standard of secondary education to GCSE level or equivalent.
* Competent in a range of clinical competencies relevant to the department.
* Experience in the Emergency Department.
