About the role:
To manage and coordinate the effective use of the PIP1 Evidential Review Officers (EROs), supporting the delivery of performance targets on specialist investigation crimes within the team’s remit, and to manage the day-to-day activity of the team. In particular:
* Work closely and collaboratively with the other supervisors and managers in the planning and co-ordination of evidential review activities within the team’s remit, focussing on the relevant and agreed priorities to improve performance in areas such as victim satisfaction, sanction detections, ‘brought to justice’ outcomes, improved citizen focus, and any other area identified by the force and/or functional lead.
* Manage the quality assurance of PIP1 crime Investigations by ensuring a programme of quality checks is undertaken, such as dip-sampling of evidential reviews, monitoring standards applicable to the appropriate Professionalising Investigation Programme (PIP) level and compliance to the Codes of Practice for Victims of Crime.
* Provide support, advice and guidance to Evidential Review Officers (EROs) within the team to ensure investigative standards are maintained and enhanced so that detection rates are improved and ensuring compliance with legislation and Force policy.
* To undertake Victim Right to Review (VRR) requests for PIP1 offences within the team’s remit, ensuing a timely and professional response to each request and driving improved victim satisfaction. To direct any police activity required following such reviews and ensuring the prompt completion of any such activity in conjunction with the relevant investigation team manager.
* To regularly dip sample and quality assure NFA/NPW decisions for PIP1 investigations made by investigation teams. In cases where the decision is not agreed, to provide clear direction to the OIC and relevant Police and Staff supervisors as to what further actions are required.
* To work in partnership with the Investigation Academy Lead to ensure that all operational learning is captured and disseminated across the organisation.
* To work collaboratively with partners inside and outside the organisation such as PIP leads, IDVA, Moonstone and CPS etc as required.
* To work in partnership with the CPS Southwest and national teams, attending regular Prosecution Team Performance Meetings when available and ensuring that all organisational learning opportunities are identified and implemented in force.
* To maintain an overview of national developments and ensure that best practice is identified and implemented across the force.
* To undertake any other specific function that may arise from time to time at the direction of the relevant CJU Chief Inspector.
* Deliver accurate, concise and coherent written and verbal communications including participation at meetings, delivering presentations, reports and correspondence.

Salary: £48,894 rising to £53,688 per annum + Excellent Benefits including Government Pension
Hours per week: This role is 37 hours per week. However, we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and we are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.
