Primary Teaching Assistant (Team Teach trained) – PRU – Manchester – Step Teachers
Start: ASAP | Pay: £95-105/day DoE (PAYE)
Hours: Full-time | Mon–Fri | 8:30am–3:30pm
Contract: Temp-to-Perm opportunity
We are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Manchester that provides specialist education for primary-aged children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The setting focuses on nurturing relationships, personalised learning, and building resilience to support pupils who have experienced barriers to mainstream education.
As a Primary Teaching Assistant (Team Teach trained), you will:
* Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation.
* Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and re-engagement with learning.
* Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
* Foster positive relationships with pupils, encouraging their social and emotional development.
To be successful, you will need:
* At least 3 months’ experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs.
* Team Teach training (essential).
* A calm, patient, and proactive approach to behaviour management.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* Team Teach certification (essential).
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).
