Commercial Manager – Defence Sector

Location: Bristol

Security Clearance: SC (eligible)


Are you ready to make a difference in one of the UK’s most dynamic defence organisations?


We’re looking for a highly capable Commercial Manager to join a growing team in Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of strategic projects, programmes, and bids, providing expert commercial advice and governance within a complex, fast-paced environment.


As a Commercial Manager, you will act as a trusted advisor to project, programme and bid teams, guiding on all commercial matters. From negotiating contracts and managing risk to advising on MoD procurement frameworks, you’ll ensure commercial excellence across the business unit.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide expert commercial advice across projects and bids.
* Negotiate and review commercial agreements (e.g., Ts&Cs, subcontracts).
* Manage and re-negotiate contract changes.
* Support bids with robust commercial governance.
* Maintain compliance with internal policies and MoD standards.
* Improve commercial practices and processes across the business.
* Advise on pricing and partnering strategies for competitive advantage.



You’re someone who combines deep commercial knowledge with the ability to communicate clearly, engage stakeholders, and influence decisions. You thrive in a regulated, high-stakes environment and are passionate about delivering results.


You’ll Need To Have:

* Demonstrated experience in commercial management
* A sound understanding of commercial and financial principles.
* Eligibility to obtain SC Security Clearance.


You’ll Excel If You:

* Are a confident communicator who can tailor messaging to suit any audience.
* Understand the commercial lifecycle and its implications.
* Strong knowledge of UK MoD procurement processes, including DEFCONs.
* Balance risk, governance and opportunity with sound judgement.
* Are passionate about continuous improvement and high standards.
* Work collaboratively, valuing openness, feedback and teamwork.
