This is a rare opportunity to join our growing practice as a qualified Payroll Manager and take full ownership of payroll, pensions, and CIS processing across our client base. This is a full-time role where you'll initially spend 2.5–3 days per week on payroll, pensions, and CIS, with the remainder of your time supporting the accounting team with bookkeeping. As our firm expands, we expect the payroll workload to grow to full-time within 12 months, with the opportunity to build and lead your own payroll team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process end-to-end payroll for multiple clients (RTI submissions, payslips, reconciliations)
* Manage auto-enrolment pensions, contributions, and compliance
* Process CIS returns and ensure compliance (we have a strong construction client base)
* Support the accounting team with bookkeeping tasks
* Work with cloud-based accounting software (Xero, BrightManager, Dext)
* Liaise with clients to provide clear, jargon-free payroll advice
Essential Requirements:
* Qualified in payroll (CIPP, CIPP Foundation Degree, or equivalent)
* Proven experience with full-cycle payroll processing
* Strong knowledge of pensions (auto-enrolment, contributions, compliance)
* Experience with CIS scheme processing and compliance
* Able to work independently and take ownership of the payroll function
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Desirable:
* Experience working in an accountancy practice or bureau environment
* Familiarity with Xero Payroll or similar cloud-based payroll software
* Knowledge of bookkeeping principles
