As our portfolio of marine and survey services continues to evolve, we are keen to connect with experienced and early-career Marine Engineers who may be interested in future opportunities within our Liverpool region.
This advert is intended to build a talent pool for potential upcoming projects. While there may not be an immediate vacancy, we would welcome expressions of interest from professionals who would like to be considered should opportunities arise.
About the role (potential future scope)
Subject to project and operational demand, successful candidates may have the opportunity to support the maintenance, readiness, and safe operation of our inshore survey vessels and associated marine and survey equipment. Time would typically be split between workshop-based activities and work aboard vessels.
Typical responsibilities could include (but are not limited to):
* Executing mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair work on marine vessels, engines, and associated systems
* Inspecting and servicing vessels, trailers, and survey instrumentation to ensure optimal operational performance (training provided on specialist equipment)
* Completing maintenance activities in line with preventive maintenance schedules
* Diagnosing faults and determining root causes of equipment malfunctions and operational failures
* Procuring and requisitioning replacement components and interpreting technical drawings and manufacturer documentation
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date maintenance logs and technical records
* Promoting safe systems of work and supporting health, safety, and environmental compliance
About you
We’re keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:
* A National Certificate or higher qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical)
* Experience or exposure to marine engines and systems, ideally including:
o Caterpillar and Cummins diesel engines and generators
o Suzuki outboard engines or equivalent propulsion systems
* A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work effectively under pressure
* Strong collaboration skills with the confidence to work independently when required
* High standards of professionalism, attention to detail, and work ethic
* Strong analytical, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills
* Clear written and verbal English communication skills
* A full UK driving licence
* Willingness to travel and work aboard vessels when required
* Residence within, or willingness to relocate to, a commutable distance of Liverpool
