Field Service Engineer / Greater London
The Field Service Engineer role at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. offers an outstanding opportunity to join a special team dedicated to customer happiness through outstanding service. You will be responsible for on-site system installation, servicing, maintenance, and repair of the Phadia range of instruments across the UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands. This position is pivotal within our Technical Customer Support organization, ensuring our customers experience detailed service and support.
Travel up to 95% of the time with occasional international travel.
Your Responsibilities:
* Perform scheduled preventative maintenance visits within required timeframes, handle service contracts, and meet internal metrics.
* Solve, support, and repair within agreed timeframes, keeping customers informed.
* Plan and conduct Phadia lab system installations at customer sites per manufacturer and local procedures.
* When not at customer sites, complete in-house repairs and support the Customer Excellence Centre with technical support.
* Accurately and promptly complete service reports in the CRM system and return them to customers.
* Provide remote and on-site support for customers and colleagues outside the territory with manager approval.
* Maintain accurate records of spare parts and ensure proper use.
* Support laboratory sales colleagues in developing business opportunities.
* Update systems at customer laboratories, including software and remote diagnostic connections.
* Provide information to global product teams on instrument reliability and quality.
* Adhere to quality, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
* Participate in service and commercial meetings.
* Supply to training material, support literature, and technical mentorship for customers.
* Maintain awareness of ISO9001 & ISO13485 standards.
* Maintain product knowledge to support customer success and share expertise.
* Work diligently towards achieving goals and improving customer allegiance.
Your/Qualifications:
* Experience in a scientific or engineering-related field (e.g., clinical/research laboratories, electronics, biotechnology, medical devices, engineering).
* Strong technical capability and proven problem-solving skills.
* Willingness to travel 90% primarily within the country but internationally as the need arises.
* Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish relationships with customers.
* Can-do attitude with the ability to balance multiple tasks with competing priorities.
* Proficiency in English – both written and verbal.
* Valid Driving License.
* Previous experience in servicing diagnostic analytical equipment within Immunology or Biochemistry is an advantage.
* General IT/Security skills, including experience in remote diagnostics, networks, LIS/LIMS communication in an advantage.
