You will take full ownership of our marketing strategy — building on our strong foundations to unlock scalable, mainstream growth while preserving the authenticity and soul of the brand. You will manage and mentor a team of ~7–8 people, including our Brand and Digital teams, empowering them to develop into the best versions of themselves. Our brand and digital teams are already working incredibly well, and this is not about changing the strategies and principles of these teams. Rather, it’s about distilling down what’s working, protecting the magic, and finding ways to scale it. You’ll work closely with the Founder and a retained brand strategist to refine and deliver our marketing approach that feels creatively distinctive, consumer-focused, and commercially effective. The Founder brings deep brand instinct, creative intuition, and a strong vision for what feels right. She’s built the brand from scratch and has clear boundaries — but actively wants those boundaries to be tested. The right candidate will understand, respect, and challenge her — with maturity, humility, evidence, and conviction. This person is joining at a pivotal moment in our growth, as we launch into major retailers like Tesco and Morrisons. This means our existing tactics may no longer apply in the same way. We need someone who can develop a broader marketing strategy that aligns with our 5-year business plan and enables sustainable, mainstream growth — without compromising our core values around taste, quality, and foodiness. This role requires a strong leader who can align and inspire the entire organisation — from commercial to operations — behind a long-term marketing vision. They’ll also play a key role in coaching and developing the Brand and Digital team, working especially closely with key leads to empower them to execute brilliantly. This is a leadership role that demands strategic thinking, operational excellence, humility, and a builder’s mindset. You’ll need to balance structure and agility — setting clear direction while coaching and inspiring the team to thrive under your guidance. —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Key Responsibilities Set and lead Bold Bean’s 5-year marketing strategy, evolving our brand from foodie niche to mainstream must-have. Manage and coach the Brand and Digital teams — developing their skills, confidence, and performance. Establish robust KPIs that clearly link marketing performance to commercial growth goals (e.g. customer recruitment targets, awareness metrics, etc.) Own the overall marketing budget — ensuring we are investing for impact and scaling efficiently. The Marketing Director will set the total marketing budget based on commercial targets and work with the leadership team to allocate funds across brand and digital — while empowering individual leads to own and execute their line items. Oversee product pipeline and product strategy for the brand. Lead marketing strategy and deliver best-in-class campaigns — identifying and executing the most effective channels and tactics, beyond the traditional FMCG playbook. Champion and safeguard Bold Bean’s brand values — ensuring all activity remains emotionally resonant and distinctive. Lead the brand team in unlocking new audiences through consumer insight (e.g., Tesco and Morrisons customers). Collaborate closely with the Commercial team to align marketing initiatives with our sales and distribution strategy. Support retail conversations and relationships. Oversee best-in-class trade marketing executions. Contribute actively to leadership discussions — helping scale Bold Bean Co’s capabilities in line with long-term ambitions. Lead our international marketing strategy — using market insight and cross-functional collaboration (with Commercial and Supply) to identify and prioritise expansion opportunities that deliver maximum impact with minimal operational strain. Set clear KPIs for marketing activity and regularly report on performance, learnings, and opportunities. Represent marketing in senior leadership discussions and ensure that marketing strategies are aligned with Bold Bean’s long term ambitions. Have experience working in fast-scaling brands, ideally between £20–£50 million turnover. Are commercially savvy — able to align marketing investment to business outcomes without immediately defaulting to spending bigger budgets. Have outstanding brand judgment — with an intuitive feel for what’s "on brand" and how to push creative boundaries. Are an inspiring coach and mentor — skilled at growing people’s confidence and leadership skills. Are relentlessly consumer-driven — championing consumer understanding in every decision. Are a natural builder — excited to shape and evolve Bold Bean Co’s marketing engine. Have experience launching brands into international markets and understand the commercial and operational demands this entails. Have a strong appreciation for digital marketing (you don’t need to be a specialist but must be invested and fluent).
