Overview

We are recruiting a Shift Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing site in Skelmersdale. This role is focused on on-site maintenance within a production environment, working on a range of machinery to ensure efficient operation and minimal downtime.
Experience within a manufacturing or production line environment, ideally involving printing machinery, would be highly beneficial. You will be working in the same workshop daily, carrying out maintenance, repairs, and modifications to machinery, including fabrication and milling work where required.
We are looking for someone confident in problem-solving, adapting equipment, and improvising practical fixes when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production machinery
2. Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
3. Maintain and repair a range of equipment including printing machinery
4. Modify and improve machinery, including fabrication and milling tasks
5. Support production teams to minimise downtime
6. Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
7. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
8. Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures

12. Folders and feeders
13. Wrappers and labellers
14. Mailing machines
The site operates high-speed, high-accuracy production equipment within a fast-paced environment. Training will be provided where required.
Requirements:
15. Experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance and fault finding (essential)
16. Experience within a manufacturing or production environment (essential)
17. Experience working with printing machinery (preferred)
18. NVQ Level 3 (preferred)
19. Experience with fabrication, milling, or lathe work (preferred)
20. Strong hands-on approach with the ability to problem solve and adapt equipment
21. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting
22. Driving licence preferred but not essential
23. Occasional travel to the Macclesfield site may be required
Additional Information:
24. Experience with PLCs or hydraulics is beneficial but not essential
