Salary: Competitive, dependent upon experience
We’re looking for a Principal Physicist to join our Radiotherapy Physics team at The Harley Street Clinic, rated 'Outstanding' by the CQC. This is an opportunity to play a leading role within HCA UK’s growing Cancer Centre of Excellence, based in central London and supported by significant, ongoing investment in advanced radiotherapy technology. Across our London network, we deliver a comprehensive radiotherapy service including four TrueBeam linear accelerators, Gamma Knife, low dose rate prostate brachytherapy and Molecular Radiotherapy, with a strong focus on innovation, quality and patient experience.
As a Principal Physicist, you’ll work at the forefront of service development, contributing to the expansion of linac‑based SABR and the commissioning of the Elekta Unity MR‑Linac, due to go live soon. You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues across our central London sites, helping to shape the future direction of radiotherapy services while developing your own leadership capability within a large, well‑established physics team.
As a Principal Physicist in Radiotherapy Physics, you’ll be part of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary service supporting clinical oncologists, radiographers, dosimetrists and fellow physicists across the patient pathway. Your role combines expert clinical physics practice with strategic input, research activity and leadership. From commissioning new equipment and techniques to advising on legislative compliance and service improvement, you’ll have the scope to influence how care is delivered today and how it evolves tomorrow. This is also a role with clear progression, offering exposure to senior leadership, service line decision‑making and opportunities to shape practice across multiple sites.

* Act as a Medical Physics Expert, providing senior scientific advice and support across the radiotherapy service
* Lead the development, commissioning and implementation of new equipment, techniques and workflows
* Take ownership of physics activity within your specialist area, including quality assurance, duty cover and service delivery
* Propose, lead and contribute to research and service development projects across the London network
* Ensure compliance with radiation protection legislation, supporting audits and advising senior stakeholders
What You’ll Bring
* HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist in radiotherapy physics
* The ability to submit a Medical Physics Expert portfolio within six to twelve months
* Significant experience in linear accelerator quality assurance and treatment planning
* Strong understanding of radiotherapy legislation and clinical governance
* The confidence to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
Benefits
* 25 days holiday each year plus bank holidays, increasing with service, with the option to buy or sell leave
* Private Healthcare Insurance for treatment at our leading hospitals
* Private pension contribution which increases with length of service
* Season Ticket Loan and Cycle to Work scheme
* Group Life Assurance from day one
* Critical illness cover
* Enhanced Maternity and Paternity pay
* Corporate staff discount for all facilities including Maternity packages at The Portland
* A comprehensive range of flexible health, protection and lifestyle benefits
* Discounts with over 800 major retailers
Culture and values
* Unique and Individual: We recognise and value everyone as unique and individual
* Kindness and compassion: We treat people with kindness and compassion
* Honesty, integrity and fairness: We act with absolute honesty, integrity and fairness
* Loyalty, respect and dignity: We trust and treat one another as valued members of the HCA UK family with loyalty, respect and dignity
