Vaccination Nurse/Midwife

The Vaccination Nurse/Midwife will support the delivery of the maternity vaccination programme within the Antenatal Clinic at Sherwood Forest Hospitals. Working as part of the Women & Children Division, the post holder will provide safe, evidence-based care to pregnant women attending antenatal services, ensuring vaccinations are delivered effectively, compassionately, and in line with national guidelines and Trust policies.
The role involves conducting pre-vaccination clinical assessments, reviewing medical histories, identifying contraindications and potential adverse reactions, obtaining informed consent, and preparing vaccines for administration. The post holder will also monitor patients following vaccination, provide reassurance and health advice, and maintain high standards of infection prevention, patient safety, and clinical governance.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while demonstrating the ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and communicate effectively in sensitive or complex situations. They will ensure accurate documentation, maintain vaccine stock and cold chain procedures, and contribute to a safe and supportive clinical environment for patients and colleagues.
This role is ideal for a registered Nurse or Midwife with strong clinical assessment skills, knowledge of immunisation practices, and a commitment to delivering high-quality maternity care and continuous professional development.

Knowledge Requirements
* Practical skills and knowledge of cold chain procedures and medicines management
* Working knowledge and literate with computer skills to use of word document, internet access and email correspondence and electronic record keeping
* Awareness of Health and Safety issues
* Knowledge and understanding of data protection confidentially
* Experience of using hospital patient record system
* Understanding of Safeguarding issues
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse/Midwife with the NMC
* Evidence of continuous personal and professional development and willingness to commit to ongoing CPD
* Anaphylaxis Training
* Completion of vaccination training on elearning for the individual vaccines that form the maternity offer
Further Training
* Commit to undertake in-house training
Experience
* Experience at Band 5 or equivalent
* Experience of working as part of a multi disciplinary team
* IT / computer skills including Microsoft office, TEAMs and hospital applications
* Previous vaccination experience or similar clinical role
* Knowledge of immunisation schedules in accordance with national recommendations
