We are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our payroll team in our Ferndown office.

The Payroll Officer takes responsibility in processing multiple client payrolls and their pension administration, ensuring that all related tasks are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with legislation. The Payroll Officer maintains strong client relationships, resolves payroll and workplace pension related queries, and contributes to the department’s service excellence. Support to our Umbrella Payroll Team will also be required at times.
Key Responsibilities
* Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls.
* Ensure all RTI submissions, pension auto‑enrolment tasks, and statutory requirements are completed accurately and on time.
* Communicate professionally with clients to obtain, verify, and update payroll information.
* Act on and respond to HMRC PAYE queries.
* Support the completion of year‑end submissions, including P60s and Benefit in Kind reporting.
* Maintain accurate records and controls across all payroll systems.
* Support peers and junior team members by sharing knowledge and help to resolve queries.
* Where required, build and upload payroll journals for accounting and bookkeeping systems.
* Support our Umbrella Payroll Team with processing tasks as required.
About you
The ideal candidate will be someone who has a background in the financial services industry, who has relevant experience in a payroll department. A successful applicant needs to be approachable, knowledgeable, and professional, with a proactive approach to help shape and refine our ever‑evolving service to clients.
* Experience within a payroll environment
* Hold CIPP (or equivalent) qualifications
* A strong background in customer/client service and the drive to go above and beyond to provide an exceptional service
* Competent and able to use Microsoft packages
* Enjoy working in a dynamic and fast‑paced office environment
* A strong communicator with a high level of professionalism, attention to detail and accuracy
* Commercially aware and able to understand the business impact of your role and actions
* Self‑motivated and proactive, confident and well organised
