Overview
We are seeking a Welder/Fitter, 2nd Shift to join our federal team at our York, PA location. The York/Grantley Plant designs, develops and manufactures complex chilled water HVAC and refrigeration equipment for Navy vessels around the world. The role involves planning, laying out, fabricating, assembling, fitting, brazing tubing, threading, welding complex piping, and welding coded and noncoded pressure vessel assemblies and subassemblies, using ferrous and nonferrous metals. Welding may involve conventional or automatic submerged arc welding and difficult positions including stick, TIG, and manual arc welding of Navy equipment.
Location: Grantley Plant in York, PA
Shift: 2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm)
Pay: $30.12 per hour (plus $0.70 shift differential)
Union: This is a bargaining unit (union) position.

Responsibilities
* Work with isometric drawings, digital 3-D models, operational method sheets, welding symbols, and code specifications.
* Position and weld on the floor, guarded platforms, ladders or welding tables.
* Perform floor erection or fixture assembly of pressure vessels and subassemblies.
* Weld in all positions.
* Lay out from center lines or create own layouts as required to locate and fabricate internal and external part details and their angular, radial, and longitudinal relationships.
* Prepare material for welding by cleaning, bead blasting, and/or grinding.
* Weld parts per drawing details including internal and external components such as heads, lugs, brackets, baffles, piping, valves, fittings, oil coolers, water boxes, covers, and make all connections.
* Clean and dress welds to Navy Welding Standards.
* Perform carbon arc or plasma arc gouging.
* Repair welding on defective materials and parts.
* Maintain a clean and safe working area.
Required Qualifications
* Applicant must pass a Navy Military Code Standard 2 diameter pipe test with a backing ring in the 6G position using E7018 filler material to be hired.
* High school diploma or GED.
* Minimum of 3+ years welding experience using SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW in all positions.
* Ability to use a tape measure, levels, laser levels, combination square set, fixtures, hand tools, pneumatic tools, guarded platforms, ladders, and other welding and material handling equipment.
* Ability to read and work from prints, sketches, written/verbal instructions, and operational method sheets; basic mathematics skills.
* Ability to perform continuous physical work including moving heavy materials and working in strenuous positions.
* Commitment to safety and the ability to work safely at all times.
* Must be eligible to work in the United States on government contracts.
Additional Qualifications
* Technical or Vocational Welding schooling or equivalent experience.
* Experience welding while adhering to code standards.
* Rigging and overhead crane operation experience.
* Knowledge of military code requirements.
* Experience welding exotic materials.
* Ability to use weld gauges including fillet gauges and V-WAC gauges.
