A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Higher Education professional to take up the post of Student Casework Manager on an interim basis whilst the current post holder is on secondment. Reporting to the Academic Registrar (Regulations, Assessment and Student Casework), you will be responsible for the management, development and delivery of the University’s regulations and procedures pertaining to student casework, ensuring that these are fit for purpose and aligned with legal and regulatory requirements. You will mitigate risk associated with this area of work and provide professional leadership and direction to the Student Casework Team to ensure that they continue to provide an excellent service to support the student and staff experience.

The successful candidate will have an expert knowledge of the UK higher education sector with particular expertise and experience of leading the procedures governing mitigating circumstances, academic integrity, student conduct and behaviour, complaints and fitness to practise. You will also have experience of leading a team and will be able to demonstrate how you have led successful institution‑wide projects. You’ll have the ability to think strategically and understand the complex operational challenges that this role will bring. You will need strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and an ability to manage complex situations, deliver good practice solutions and mitigate risk.

The Academic Services Directorate includes Research & Impact, Knowledge Exchange, Academic Registry, Quality Assurance and Enhancement, the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre, Brand, Communications and Public Affairs and Development, Alumni Relations & Engagement (DARE). Collectively the Directorate supports academics in their research and KE activities and supports some of the University’s governance and decision‑making committees, maintains academic regulations, develops and implements academic policies, oversees the quality and standards of academic provision and leads the development of education practices across the University.

The Directorate is responsible for stimulating cutting edge research, impact and knowledge exchange and supporting a vibrant community of graduate research students, to increase the volume, impact and visibility of our research and business activities. We actively liaise with Faculties and researchers to support and develop research activities across all disciplines and provide related training and development opportunities. We foster interdisciplinary working to promote, advance and share knowledge with the overall aim of securing new revenue sources and contributing to regional prosperity. Our goal is to foster and sustain a vibrant research culture in which our researchers and research students can flourish.

As a directorate, we identify opportunities for innovation, see change as an opportunity, value constructive feedback and share good practice across the University.

This is a full time, fixed term position for 12 months with a starting salary of £50,160 per annum. The successful candidate will ideally be able to take up the post in early August 2026.

This post is available as a result of internal secondment and it is expected that you will hold it for the full period. However, should the substantive post‑holder return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month.

Interviews are expected to be held on Thursday 9 July 2026.

For informal enquiries, please contact Miss Annie Sander, Academic Registrar (Regulations, Assessment & Student Casework).
