A global powerhouse within the engineering and technology space is looking to hire a Principal Electrical Engineer to join their team in Bristol. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of three days per week in the office. In this role, you will work on the pinnacle of engineering projects within the defence/marine sector.
Lead the design, development, and optimisation of low-voltage electrical power systems to meet bespoke customer requirements.
Deliver technical outcomes across complex projects, providing direction and guidance to junior engineers where required.
Solve challenging technical issues using sound engineering principles and practical experience.
Support team development through coaching, mentoring, and input into performance reviews.
Oversee product testing and validation from initial concept through to final delivery.
Represent the company in technical discussions with customers and suppliers, including occasional travel to external sites.
Author and review key technical documentation and reports to support project milestones.
Degree-qualified (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Proven experience in electrical system design, particularly within AC and DC low voltage distribution.
Strong technical judgement and ability to deliver robust engineering solutions independently.
Comfortable leading projects and mentoring less experienced engineers.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines and budgets.
Working knowledge of marine electrical standards (e.g. Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, MATLAB, Paladin, ETAP, or Mathcad.
