We are now seeking an experienced Senior Surveyor to join our team on a major infrastructure project based in Somerset.
The Role
This is a full-time, site-based position working on a large-scale infrastructure project. The successful candidate will report to the Project Civil Surveyor and play a key role in delivering high-precision engineering surveying services.
You will be responsible for extending and maintaining survey control networks, including multi-storey vertical control transfer and datum transfer, while ensuring quality assurance and technical excellence across all survey operations.
Key Responsibilities
Establish, extend and maintain survey control networks
Carry out dimensional control, as-built surveys and setting out
Undertake vertical control transfer through multi-storey structures
Manage survey data processing and reporting
Produce accurate survey drawings and quality records
Maintain and calibrate survey equipment
Implement and monitor quality control procedures
Provide technical support to project teams
Lead survey activities on site and mentor junior surveyors
Liaise with clients, engineers and stakeholders

Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar engineering surveying role
Proven experience establishing and managing survey control networks
Experience on large infrastructure or major construction projects (nuclear, energy, oil & gas desirable)
Strong leadership and team management capability
Proficient in modern survey hardware and adjustment software
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Ability to interpret and validate complex survey data
Excellent problem-solving skills and technical judgement
High level of attention to detail and quality
Strong communication and client-facing skills
Well organised with effective time management
Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Qualifications
Degree in Geomatics, Engineering Surveying, Civil Engineering or related field (desirable)
ICES / RICS membership (desirable)
Relevant technical qualification (NVQ, HNC or equivalent)
