Overview
The post holder will be part of the Clinical Support Services (CSS) Division finance team providing support in the production and processing of transactions through the general ledger and variance analysis to Plan. The Management Accountant will ensure that expenditure is accurately recorded within the general ledger which requires transaction analysis and liaison with financial services, payroll and HR colleagues to investigate payments made to staff and suppliers. The post holder also investigates expenditure variances from budget, identifies and interprets trends, presents results in a user-friendly format for discussion and makes recommendations for corrective actions. The Management Accountant has regular contact with budget holders to review financial performance against pay budget and to ensure that financial targets are achieved.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Responsibilities
* Experience of a range of accounting duties at this or similar organisations unless compensated for by a degree incorporating finance modules or by AAT/CCAB qualification, Knowledge of the NHS generally, Good general education, including Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent), Studying a professional accountancy qualification., Able to communicate confidently both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organisation
* Industrious and versatile, able to work on a diverse range of projects at one time
* Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Desirable criteria
* Knowledge of Oracle Finance software package
