We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Band 6 physiotherapist to work in our Emergency Department Therapy Team service at Royal Derby Hospital. This service is part of a key multidisciplinary Frail Elderly Assessment team for the Trust that covers the Emergency Department, Frailty Same Day Emergency Care, Medical Assessment Unit, and 2 General Medicine wards.
The team has direct working links with the Trust's Frailty Specialist Nurses, Acute Consultant Geriatrician, and Advanced Clinical Practitioners as part of a wrap-around care approach to identified frailty and rehabilitation needs.
You will be part of a team fundamental in identifying the therapeutic needs of individuals utilizing dual competencies and strength-based principles. The overall goal is to maximize individuals' therapy potential, resulting in admission avoidance and safe transfers of care from the acute hospital setting. The team is engaged in early identification of patients' rehabilitation needs and delivery of ongoing rehab across all our clinical areas.
We have close working links with our community rapid response team, engaging in clinician-to-clinician referrals for patients seen in our front door areas requiring a timely patient-centered response.
The Senior Physiotherapy contingent of the ED Therapy team provides acute respiratory physiotherapy to our front door areas and contributes to the Royal Derby Hospital respiratory on-call rota.
You will work closely with Team Leads to provide clinical leadership and staff development to the dual professional team and adopt cross-competency working principles. The team is engaged in continuous service development, supporting trust-wide initiatives such as early mobilization of patients to positively impact care outcomes.
Responsibilities include providing advanced therapy assessment and treatment to patients on the Medical Assessment Unit, Emergency Department, and two acute medicine wards. You will supervise and teach junior therapists, students, and assistants, delegate workload, and provide necessary support.
You will work alongside the Team Leaders to develop, lead, and evaluate the SDEC/MAU/A&E therapy service to meet organizational targets and standards. Additionally, you will be an integral member of the ED Therapy team, providing clinical and managerial support within the team.
