Income Officer East Midlands 12 months (minimum, with potential to extend) £25 - £35 per hour Start ASAP About the Role: We are currently working with a respected Housing Association in the East Midlands who are seeking an experienced Income Officer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting residents to sustain their tenancies while helping the organisation to maximise rental income. Key Responsibilities: Proactively manage a portfolio of rent accounts, taking early action to prevent arrears from escalating Provide practical advice and guidance to tenants on rent payments, benefits, Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, and wider financial support Work with residents to agree affordable repayment arrangements, and make referrals to money advice and support services where needed Take appropriate enforcement action when required, including serving legal notices, preparing documentation for court, and representing the organisation at hearings Collaborate with colleagues across housing management, welfare teams, and external agencies to support residents and promote tenancy sustainment Accurately record casework, monitor arrears performance, and contribute to meeting income collection targets and KPIs Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and legal frameworks, maintaining a balance between enforcement and a customer-centred approach Deliver a high standard of service, handling sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism What We're Looking For: Proven experience as an Income Officer, Rent Arrears Officer, or similar role within social housing Strong knowledge of Housing Benefit, Universal Credit, and welfare reform legislation Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills Confidence in managing a caseload, working to deadlines, and making balanced decisions Ability to engage effectively with residents, colleagues, and partner agencies If you're interested, please send your most up-to-date CV or call 0161 470 5504 for more information.
