What you’ll be doing as a Civil Engineering Apprentice:
Assist in planning, designing, and managing civil engineering projects across Thames Water’s network
Prepare and update engineering diagrams, documents, and specifications using tools like CAD
Collect and analyse technical data to develop practical engineering solutions
Ensure work meets health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and sustainability goals
Support quality, budget, and schedule management using project systems
Communicate and coordinate effectively with project teams, stakeholders, and customers
Build skills in line with professional codes and industry standards Where you’ll work:
Location: Clearwater Court Reading- Hybrid
Hours: 36-hour week over four working days plus one training day
Start date: September 2026
Training and qualification: You’ll study with LSBU, a leading UK Civil Engineering provider, with one day per week of onsite training in central London and a 3-day field trip during your first year.
Qualification achieved: BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering
Duration: Permanent contract with a 66 month structured programme
What you should bring to the role
Holds 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English (grade 9-4 / A-C)
Hold one of the following: A-Levels with 112 UCAS points including Maths and either Chemistry or Physics; a T-Level in Design, Surveying & Planning with a minimum Merit (120 UCAS points); a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering with DDM including Maths and Further Maths (128 UCAS points); or a Civil Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship with DD (96 UCAS points)
