Title: Specialist Employment Support Officer Hours: Part-time, 18.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE) Potential to increase hours depending on performance and future funding Salary: £24,378 – £25,655 FTE per annum (depending on skills and experience) Responsible to: Employment and Skills Lead or as advised We are looking for an enthusiastic hard working and highly motivated Specialist Employment Support Officer (SESO) to join our team working across Sandwell. The individual must have lived experience or expert knowledge of disability and a real insight into the issues disabled people face in finding and securing employment. About the Role: This role is all about enabling people to move closer to or into sustainable employment, education, volunteering or training. You'll provide tailored one-to-one support, develop action plans, liaise with partner agencies and employers, and offer in-work support where needed. You'll work with people facing a variety of challenges—including disabilities, health conditions, or social exclusion—helping them to gain the confidence, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed. You will play a key part in promoting inclusion, independence and employment readiness, with a focus on empowerment and choice. Key responsibility and tasks: Supporting participants to develop CVs, job applications, job searches, interview skills; aiming to support individuals to move into paid employment. This role provides an opportunity to actively influence and support employers in the local community to change their attitudes towards employing disabled people or those with a health condition, and work with them to build a better understanding of disability and being Disability Confident. The SESO will need excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills and be able to manage a range of tasks in outreach locations within Sandwell, the wider region and in local community settings.
