Are you a qualified Chef looking to work with fresh seasonal food, with the opportunity to have more of a work life balance and make what you do matter?
Working as a Second Chef at our award winning client's care home, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
* A personable and warm approach, with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents.
* City & Guilds / NVQ / SVQ (or equivalent) in catering or food preparation.
* Strong understanding of nutrition and dietary needs.
* Proven experience working with fresh, seasonal ingredients.
* Ability to foster a warm, welcoming atmosphere within the home.
* Confidence engaging with residents to develop appetising and nutritious menus.
* Solid knowledge of HACCP and food safety regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
* Assist the Head Chef in planning and developing menus.
* Prepare and cook wholesome, high-quality dishes using fresh produce.
* Create and maintain a positive, efficient, and enjoyable working environment.
* Work effectively within set budgets.
* Carry out regular audits to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
* Manage stock control and maintain accurate records.
