Apply Now About the role East Slope FM has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join our Investments business unit to work at the University of Sussex. Role Purpose To support the East Slope FM team to deliver planned and reactive maintenance on the East Slope student residences development. To supervise and manage the facilities management subcontractors, when requested, during FM service delivery. To place Health and Safety at the fore front and follow the zero harm principles set out by Balfour Beatty To be client focused and foster a can-do attitude. To undertake semi-skilled pre-planned and reactive maintenance. To become familiar with the West Slope development layout of services and buildings during the construction process. What you'll be doing As a Maintenance Assistant, you will have the following accountabilities: Undertake pre-planned and reactive maintenance of interior and exterior finishes including windows, doors, ironmongery, skirtings, facings, ceilings, floor coverings, furniture, shelving and reception counters dependent upon skill level. Undertake low risk electrical maintenance, which includes lamp replacements, hob and over replacements and similar works. Full training will be given. To undertake inspections, set out inventory and assist other trades as necessary, To assist and maintain the stores and equipment processes and notify the lead technician of any materials required. Provide support to the other in-house trades or complete other trade tasks were deemed competent including; minor plumbing repairs, tilling, painting and decorating and wet trades. To undertake reactive and planned service works issued through the helpdesk within set time frames ensuring client expectations are met. Provide detailed reports upon completion of works including breakdown processes, hours and materials of works to allow for accurate valuation all within the Right First-Time framework. To inspect and witness the West Slope construction site as it develops and become familiar with the infrastructure which in turn will assist during the operational delivery period. Possesses a full UK driving licence. Have basic knowledge in a particular trade or building maintenance skill set CSCS Skill card desirable. PASMA desirable SSSTS is desirable. Previous experience working within FM environment is highly desirable.
