Job Title: Electrical Supervisor

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to oversee electrical compliance, contractor performance, and safety standards across the Council’s housing stock. The role is responsible for ensuring that all electrical installations, inspections, and repairs meet current regulations and industry best practice.
You will coordinate electrical contracts, carry out quality inspections, manage certification records, and provide technical support to contractors and internal teams. The position also involves supervising a small team responsible for compliance activities such as fire alarm and emergency lighting testing.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate electrical works carried out by external contractors across council housing properties.
* Carry out pre- and post-inspection checks to ensure electrical work meets required safety and quality standards.
* Ensure all electrical installations comply with regulations including BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations and relevant health and safety legislation.
* Manage electrical compliance documentation including EICRs, certification and testing records.
* Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with agreed KPIs and service standards.
* Act as the Council’s Electrical Qualifying Supervisor, signing off electrical certification where required.
* Supervise electrical compliance staff responsible for fire alarms, emergency lighting, and communal electrical systems.
* Investigate faults, respond to technical queries, and support the resolution of electrical issues or complaints.
* Carry out site inspections, audits, and quality checks of completed electrical works.
* Maintain registrations and compliance requirements with relevant bodies such as ELECSA.
* Promote high standards of electrical safety, health & safety compliance, and best practice across services.
Requirements
* Qualified Electrician with City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
* Inspection & Testing qualification (e.g., 2391 or 2394/2395).
* Strong knowledge of electrical compliance, testing procedures, and installation standards.
* Experience supervising electrical works or managing contractors.
* Ability to carry out inspections, audits, and technical assessments of electrical installations.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
* Experience within social housing, local authority, or property maintenance environments.
* Supervisory or management experience.
* Knowledge of compliance programmes such as EICR cycles and planned maintenance.
