Salary: £53,506.44 p.a.; Hours: 37 hours per week; Employment: Full time, permanent; Ref: SLL.
Overview
Are you ready to take your legal career to new heights and have the opportunity to develop your knowledge in a fast paced and diverse role, providing a variety of services including litigation support? In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Council’s litigation service. You’ll handle a varied and often complex caseload, represent the Council in County Court and Magistrate Court proceedings, and play a key role in ensuring the Council delivers a responsive, trusted and customer focused in-house legal service.
Responsibilities
* Day-to-day management of the Council’s litigation service.
* Handle a varied and often complex caseload.
* Represent the Council in County Court and Magistrate Court proceedings.
* Play a key role in ensuring the Council delivers a responsive, trusted and customer focused in-house legal service.
* Handle a variety of casework including housing possessions, anti-social behaviour, debt recovery, commercial property litigations, fly‑tipping, licensing matters and planning enforcement.
Work Arrangements
Excellent flexibility and the opportunity to work three out of five days from home.
Qualifications & Skills
* Post qualification experience in litigation work with excellent knowledge of court proceedings.
* Strong advocacy skills.
* Excellent communication skills both verbally and written with clarity and confidence.
* Ability to manage complex workloads with exceptional efficiency.
* Experience supporting colleagues, building rapport with a wide variety of people and working in a fast paced environment.
* Experience within a local government environment is desirable but not essential.
* Conscientiousness, good work ethic, self‑motivation, sound judgement and professionalism.
* Fluent English and ability to converse at ease with members of the public.
