Position: Pastoral Support Assistant
Location: Wigan
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent
Start Date: Immediate and September starts available
Salary: £85–£100 per day (depending on experience)
About the Role:
You will play a key role in supporting the personal development, behaviour, and wellbeing of students who may be experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. Working closely with the pastoral team and senior leadership, you'll be a trusted presence in the school, helping students feel safe, supported, and understood.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build positive relationships with pupils across year groups
* Support students with behavioural or emotional difficulties on a 1:1 or small group basis
* Assist in managing behaviour and promoting a respectful, inclusive learning environment
* Help implement behaviour support plans, attendance strategies, and safeguarding measures
* Work alongside teaching staff, SENCOs, and external agencies to ensure holistic student support
Ideal Candidate:
* Background in education, youth work, psychology, or a related field
* Strong interpersonal skills with a calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
* Experience working with young people, especially those facing social or emotional challenges
* A genuine interest in making a difference in students’ lives

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
