Overview
Chair and Professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Vanderbilt University School of Engineering. This tenured Professor position seeks an accomplished leader to oversee the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE) and contribute to the School of Engineering's growth and interdisciplinary initiatives. The School is launching an Energy Cluster to address grand challenges, with a focus on energy storage and conversion, catalysis and separations, electrochemical engineering, advanced materials, and manufacturing. The appointment includes the endowed John R. Hall Chair in Chemical Engineering for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
* Provide visionary leadership for the ChBE department, guiding research, education, mentorship, and service.
* Direct and advance departmental initiatives during a period of growth and expansion within ChBE and the School of Engineering.
* Foster an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment that engages across departments and with external stakeholders, including alumni and donors.
* Maintain a nationally and internationally recognized, well-funded research program that strengthens areas of research excellence at Vanderbilt.
* Communicate the department’s goals and vision effectively to internal and external audiences.

* Strong record of mentorship, community building, and support of faculty, staff, and students.
* Outstanding scholarship and a collegial, transparent, collaborative, yet decisive leadership style.
* Innovative, inclusive, and forward-looking leadership with recognized impact in chemical engineering or related fields.
* Commitment to interdisciplinary research and education and demonstrated leadership in mentoring faculty, staff, and students.
* Ability to articulate and advance the department’s goals to internal stakeholders, the dean, university leadership, and external partners.
* A nationally and internationally recognized and well-funded research program aligned with Vanderbilt’s research strengths.
