Join a Unique Calibration Role with the Humber Authorities Calibration Service
Are you detail-oriented, technically minded, and passionate about precision? The Humber Authorities Calibration Service is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Calibration Officer to join our team - someone who thrives on variety and is ready to take on a unique dual-role that combines technical calibration work with specialist vehicle operation.
This exciting opportunity is offered on a fixed-term basis for up to 2 years, with the potential to become permanent as part of our succession planning. About the Role
As our new Calibration Officer, your primary responsibility will be to carry out the calibration, inspection, and verification of weighing and measuring equipment at our purpose-built Calibration Test Centre in Hull. You'll be working with high-precision instruments in a controlled environment, ensuring accuracy and reliability for our clients across the region.
In addition, you'll provide cover for our Weighbridge Test Unit Driver, operating our specialist articulated vehicle - a one-of-a-kind unit designed to test weighbridges across the Humber region and beyond. This includes:
1. Driving and operating the Weighbridge Test Unit (stored in Market Weighton)
2. Conducting on-site accuracy assessments in collaboration with engineers and Trading Standards Officers
3. Transporting up to 20 calibrated one-tonne weights and a forklift truck
4. Operating under DVLA weight exemptions (up to 48 tonnes)
5. Travelling nationwide with occasional overnight stays and weekend work
What We're Looking For
Were seeking someone who is:
6. Technically capable with strong attention to detail
7. Physically fit, able to handle equipment up to 20kg
8. Flexible and reliable, willing to travel and adapt to changing schedules
9. A confident driver, holding a full Category C+E licence (HGV1 & HGV2) and up-to-date CPC
10. Forklift trained (or willing to train within 6 months)
11. Comfortable with basic IT and admin tasks
12. Able to work independently and represent the Humber Partnership professionally

Location & Travel
19. Calibration duties are based at our Hull Calibration Test Centre
