Overview
Occupational Hygiene Lead role at NG Bailey for the Hinkley Point C project, Bridgwater, Somerset. This is a permanent position with a competitive salary plus car/car allowance and flexible benefits.
Responsibilities
* Work with project teams to embed occupational hygiene related aspects into project designs and construction implementation plans and oversee the health risk assessment process.
* Gather information and expertise relevant to research and investigations/surveys; initiate new surveys/projects when required and monitor progress, taking appropriate action to meet requirements.
* Perform occupational hygiene assessments and monitoring of personnel and site activities for a range of chemical, physical and biological agents (e.g., dust, respirable crystalline silica, diesel exhaust emissions, welding fumes, gases, organic vapours, noise, vibration, thermal conditions).
* Continually develop technical expertise in occupational health and noise pollution and fume control, contributing to the HSSE department’s overall technical performance.
* Participate in occupational hygiene investigations and studies as required by the project and at the direction of the occupational hygiene lead.
* Provide support to COSHH management arrangements as required by the HSSE Manager and the project.
* Carry out regular workplace inspections/tours to assess occupational hygiene aspects and reinforce workplace health themes with the workforce.
* Prepare and deliver training and information materials on occupational hygiene topics to the project and contractor companies.
* Regularly update and circulate occupational hygiene service performance reports.
* Own the MEHA management arrangement for occupational hygiene and collaborate with client occupational hygienist teams.
* Monitor and maintain legislative compliance with external Workplace Exposure Limits (WEL) to protect workforce health in line with MEHA & NNB standards.
* Manage surveillance programmes including inspections and audits for necessary subject matters and provide analysis on monitoring activities.
What we’re looking for
* Educated to degree level in a relevant subject; ideally you will possess or be working towards the BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene.
* Prior experience in occupational hygiene, preferably at a management level and within nuclear, construction or other highly regulated industries.
* In-depth understanding of best practice techniques for conducting industrial hygiene surveys and risk reduction, including physical installation, use and maintenance of survey equipment.
